At times, all you require is a weekend of raging water, thick forests, and the sort of quiet that makes your forget urban chaos. That’s precisely what Dandeli offered me. Situated in the Western Ghats of Karnataka, Dandeli is a thrill-seeker’s and nature lover’s paradise. My short trip to this adventure capital proved to be the ideal blend of rafting, riverside pleasures, wildlife, and tranquility, all packaged into one unforgettable adventure
As we left Bangalore late on a Friday night, we did not know that within a few hours we’d be trading traffic signals for giant trees and horns for quietness without intrusion. By dawn, the fresh breeze and scent of wet earth greeted us at Dandeli, a secret paradise along the shores of the Kali River.
Things to Do When in Dandeli
Our accommodation was a peaceful riverside eco-resort lined with greens, where hammocks gently swayed and the river flowed just a few feet away. Only agenda: Fun during the day, unwinding at night.

1. River Rafting on the Kali
White water rafting was number one on our agenda, and it didn't disappoint us! The Kali River, with Grade II and III rapids, provided us with just the amount of adrenaline we craved. We paddled over raging waters, got soaked, laughed till our sides hurt, and even got to float on the smooth parts of the river. It was crazy, exhilarating, and well worth every splash.

2. Jungle Safari in Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary
The next morning, we went on a jeep safari within the Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary with hopes of catching a glimpse of a black panther (though this is pretty rare). Although the panther eluded us, we did catch glimpses of Malabar giant squirrels, deer, hornbills, and plenty of colorful butterflies.

3. Kayaking and Coracle Ride
After lunch, we had a kayaking session, paddling along serene waters lined with dense forest on both sides. Towards evening, a leisurely coracle ride provided us the opportunity to just sit and look around at the unspoiled beauty around us as the sun's golden rays struck the water.

4. Campfire and Stargazing
Evenings in Dandeli are enchanting. With no light pollution, we sat around a crackling campfire, listened to stories, cooked some snacks, and looked up at a starry sky. It was serene, grounded, and the best way to cap off a high-energy day.
