Top Weekend Getaways from Bangalore Under 300 KM

Being in Bangalore has its advantages, the technology hub, the weather, and the café culture. But then, occasionally, the traffic, the deadlines, and the corporate life overwhelm you. Fortunately, Bangalore is endowed with a diverse range of weekend getaways within a 300 km radius. Be it mountains, waterfalls, heritage, or simply quiet and solitude, everyone has something to choose from.

Here are a few of the top weekend getaways near Bangalore that I have explored and strongly recommend.

1. The Scotland of India - Coorg (Approx. 270 KM)

My trip to Coorg was like entering a postcard town made of hazy hills, the smell of rain-kissed soil, and rolling coffee plantations. Ideal for nature enthusiasts and families, Coorg has coffee plantation stays, Abbey Falls, Raja’s Seat, and the spiritual peace of Namdroling Monastery.

2. Relish the Coffee and Experience Calm at Chikmagalur – (Approx. 245 KM)

My stress buster was Chikmagalur. The winding roads along coffee estates, the fresh breeze of Mullayanagiri Peak, and the serene beauty of Hirekolale Lake forced me to slowdown and breathe. It’s a trekkers’ paradise and a haven for anyone who wishes to disconnect.

3. Experience the Monsoon Magic at Sakleshpur – (Approx. 220 KM)

My monsoon drive to Sakleshpur was straight out of a movie, surrounded by foggy roads, gushing streams, and stretches of greenery. I walked through Manjarabad Fort, took old railway bridges, and lodged in a quaint cottage amidst coffee estates. It’s less touristy and best suited for offbeat travellers.

4. Visit to the Twin Cascades of Shivanasamudra Falls (Approx. 135 KM)

A mere three hours’ drive from the city, Shivanasamudra presented us with a close-up glimpse of nature’s wonder. The Gaganachukki and Bharachukki Falls, particularly in monsoon season, are simply spectacular. It’s an easy getaway perfect for a day outing or a leisurely overnight stay.

5. A Walk Through Time in Hampi (Approx. 340 KM, But Worth the Stretch)

Alright, it’s barely more than 300 km, but Hampi is so enchanting to skip. Visiting ancient ruins, coracle rides over the river, and boulder-strewn terrain left us believing we travelled back in time.

Wrapping Up

Weekends aren’t just time-outs from the monotony. They’re mini-adventures that rejuvenate the soul. Each of these places within 300 km of Bangalore presented us with tales, tranquility, and new outlooks to life.

So, the next time city life wears you down, remember, the hills, falls, and temples are just a drive away. Pack light, leave early, and let the road lead you to your next escape.
